Why can’t messaging apps track project tasks effectively?

Messaging apps are designed to organise conversations chronologically rather than structurally. Messages appear in a continuous stream where new conversations push older messages down the timeline. This makes it difficult to track tasks within chat discussions. Instructions such as “please update the document” may appear briefly in the conversation but can easily become buried among other messages. Messaging platforms typically do not assign responsibilities, track deadlines, or monitor progress in a structured way. As a result, teams relying solely on messaging apps may struggle to keep track of who is responsible for specific tasks.
